  • Summary of Project: This unit follows and complements an integrated fifth grade unit on Immigration. Students will assume the role of an immigrant from a particular country immigrating to the U.S. and will prepare a power point outlining their journey.

  • Real world connection-Immigration is a hot topic in our country right now. Students encounter immigration on a daily basis either through knowing classmates who have immigrated to the country or through their own experiences with immigration. Students will grow to be adults who must make informed decisions about electing leaders and promoting legislation that speaks to the impact of immigration in our country. The culture of our country has evolved from the influence of immigration. We live in a country that is a "salad bowl" of many cultures and the impact of these various cultures continues to be felt economically and culturally.
